Andrea Nones-Kobiakov (Maracaibo, Venezuela. 1986) From birth she begins the comings and goings between the previously menGoned city-town of Maracaibo and the fantasy land called Miami. In 2012 she receives her Bachelors degree in Fine Arts from Florida InternaGonal University with minors in art history and communicaGons. During a brief parallel Gme she also aOends Le Cordon Bleu’s program for baking and pastry. Nones-Kobiakov mixes installaGons, photography, performances and site specific work to follow a line that uses the materiality of different foods and ingredients while researching themes relaGng to displacement, comfort and their affecGons with our surroundings. Her iniGal focus in photography can be seen throughout her most current work, as an aOempt to capture and recreate sensaGons. Since 2011 she has parGcipated in various group and individual exhibiGons between Maracaibo, Miami, and most recently Mexico. Her first individual exhibiGon was in 2014, appropriately Gtled Short Stories: choose between living or telling which in many ways foreshadowed how she would relate to art making from that point forward. Her narraGves bypass verbal language and seek to acGvate the senses towards a more evocaGve experience. In 2018 Nones-Kobiakov finished SOMA’s EducaGonal Program in Mexico City, where she currently eats and works.
