Caroline Montenat (France, 1974) studied History at the Sorbonne University, Paris, France and completed a Master's degree of development and economics at the 3A School, Lyon, France. She also studied Photography (Fotogram, Amsterdam, the Netherlands) and in the open art graphic arts workshops of the San Carlos Academy (Mexico City). She holds a Certificate in Innovation in Cultural Management in 17, Institute of Critical Studies.
Montentand is Co-founder of MATERIA DE DIBUJO / DRAWING ISSUES, a project that has been operating since 2010 in Mexico City, dedicated to the analysis and production of contemporary drawing projects and the development of new teaching strategies and artistic bonding. She has made about twenty projects, among which the collective exhibitions Materia Sensible (MACG), Escotoma. Historias de Butades (Metropolitan Gallery of the UAM), Alotropos (MU Chopo), public events such as the Big Draw (Casa Vecina, MUAC, MACG), O Drawing in Scene (ExTeresa Arte Actual), as well as different drawing workshops, amongst them: Improbable Landscapes in Casa del Lago and Friday of Experimental Drawing in SOMA in collaboration with Eduardo Abaroa; She also produced projects and publications in collaboration with artist residencies such as: Casa Vecina with Pauline Fondevila and the book Las Sombra de los Arboles, a prison in Warsaw and other stories, and the residence of Evelise Millet in the El Eco Experimental Museum. Since 2015, she has been involved with Laboratorio Materia de Dibujo focused on pedagogy and the multidisciplinary practice of drawing, resulting in two seminars held at ESAY in Mérida and at La Curtiduría in Oaxaca, within the framework of CEACO.
