Daniel Melo is a latinx interdisciplinary artist and musician based in San Francisco. Melo earned an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute and a BA in English Literature from Kenyon College. Upon completion of the MFA, he received the 2015 New Genres Outstanding Graduate Student Award at the San Francisco Art Institute. Melo has shown in New York, San Francisco’s SF Camerawork, and Buenos Aires spaces Mite, Big Sur, and La Ira de Díos. He was recently selected by the Senior Curator of Photography at the J. Paul Getty Museum, James A. Ganz, to be included in a group exhibition in Poughkeepsie, NY opening in February 2019. His photography will also be including in a lecture to be given at the South African Visual Arts Historians in November of this year, as well as at the Society for Photographic Education Annual Conference in Cleveland, Ohio during the month of March. Melo has curated exhibitions for the Paul Sack Gallery and his San Francisco apartment. Currently, he’s an artist at the Headlands Center for the Arts in Marin County, California.
