Daniel Ray Martinez (1990) lives and works in Dallas, TX. DRM has an MFA in Interdisciplinary Studio Art from SMU Meadows School of Arts and has a BFA in Photography from UT Arlington.
DRM’s body of work is a combination of video and performances engaging with concepts and concerns about the image, the surface, and the space of representation. By using a combination of screen based and projected videos, photographs, objects, and drawings he composes layered assemblage installation in a space. DRM uses recorded footage of everyday life mixed with choreographed performances in which he interact with and questions the perspective and depth of spaces on surfaces. The surfaces of walls and objects become the material to mediate a phenomenological experience, DRM is interested in that experience, the space between the viewer and the representation.
