John Christopher Orth

John Cristopher Orth (1970) an artist and musician completing an MFA in Sculpture at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. He has exhibited work internationally and with his gallery in New York, Cinders Gallery. He has released three albums on Sub Pop Records, two with Holopaw, a band in which he was the lyricist and lead singer, and one with Ugly Casanova, a collaboration with Isaac Brock of Modest Mouse. He was the co-director of the performance group Cloud Seeding Circus of the Performative Object and director of the artist-run gallery F.L.A. in Gainesville, Florida. He has collaborated on experimental films with a number of filmmakers, including Roger Beebe, Alan Calpe and Adam Baran. He has received fellowships from Wayfarers Gallery & Studios (NY),  Mildred's Lane (PA) and was a 2017 recipient of a Dedalus Foundation grant.
