The danish-german artist and filmmaker Lena Ditte Nissen (1987) lives and works in Copenhagen and Berlin. She studied at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne, Kunstakademie Düsseldorf and Universidad Nacional de Colombia. In her artistic practice she focusses on time-based media art methods, such as video, film and performance, that is driven by the her interest in the concept of "otherness". Besides to her individual work, she is also one half of the collective BERGERNISSEN. Lena also works as a curator for film and video. She has been awarded scholarships by the International Summeracademy Salzburg, The Danish Arts Fund, Kunststiftung NRW among others, as well as artist residencies at Lugar a Dudas Colombia and LightCone in Paris. Her works have been shown internationally at Festival de nouveau cinéma Montreal, Edinburgh International Film Festival, CPH:DOX, Belo Horizonte International Short Film Festival, Anthology Film Archives, among other Festivals and exibition spaces such as Bundeskunsthalle Bonn, KAI10 Arthena Foundation Düsseldorf and the Bangkok Arts and Culture Center.
Lena is currently a visiting researcher at King Mongkuts Institute of Technology in Bangkok.
