Mauricio Marcín Álvarez

Mauricio Marcín Álvarez (Tapachula, 1980) is co-founder of Aeromoto (aeromoto.mx) with Maru Calva, Macarena Hernández and Jerónimo Rüedi. He worked as curator at Museo Experimental El Eco from 2012-2017 and currently works in Ediciones MP, a book publishing house.

In 2007, founded El Clauselito, a project room that showed contemporary painting and drawing. Its location defined its spirit: it was adjacent to the former studio of the painter Joaquín Clausell inside the Museum of Mexico City. Marcin spent several years investigating the mail art movement in Latin America. The investigation was presented at the Museum of Mexico City and in Oaxaca in 2010. The exhibition showed the work of more than 250 artists from around the world, mostly works from the decades of 1960, 1970 and 1980. A book of the investigation was published in 2011 and several curators and art historians from Mexico, United States and Brazil collaborated with essays.

He has made some residencies, lately in Brazil, one at the 8th Mercosur Bienal, and another one at Capacete in Río de Janeiro. Mauricio Marcin currently lives in Mexico City.
