Mikk Madisson (b. 1987 in Tartu, Estonia) is an Estonian video artist, writer and researcher living and working in Berlin. He holds a BA in Fine Arts from the Estonian Academy of Arts and is a Meisterschüler (graduate) in New Media from UDK Berlin where he studied under the tutelage of Prof. Dr. Phil. Hito Steyerl. His practice is concerned with the intertwined histories of genetics and informatics. Namely, mapping out the way their legacies manifest in the digital economy and platform capitalism and how ideologies behind user interfaces extend into the tangible world through user behaviour. In 2014, Madisson and Rainar Aasrand co-founded the SKATKA collective, an artistic initiative concerned with investigating the technological implications of configuring a national subjecthood, based on the example of Estonia in the age of e-governance and e-residencies. Madissons works have been presented at the JULIA STOSCHEK COLLECTION (Düsseldorf), KOW Gallery and KW Institute for Contemporary Art in Berlin.
