Ossian Söderqvist was born in Gothenburg, Sweden. In 2019 he graduated from the BA program in Fine Art at the Royal Institute of Art (RIA) in Stockholm. Through RIA he attended a 4-week residence at the Swedish Polar Research Secretariat in Abisko about artistic practice in the interdisciplinary field. In the fall of 2018, he did an Erasmus exchange at the world’s most northern art university Tromsö Academy of Contemporary Art in Norway. His work is often in between practice and discourse, never fully settling down at a single position. He uses sculpture and installation to draw attention to conventions, suggested functions of art or other strategies used to legitimize art in a time where the idea of autonomy is still applied. His work has been shown at Gallery fivehundredthousand London, Galleri Snerk Tromsö, Kalmar Konstmuseum, Marabouparken in Stockholm.
