Rita Ackermann

Rita Ackermann was born in Hungary and lives in New York City. She studied at the Hungarian Fine Art Academy, Budapest. In 1993, having received a grant, she moved to New York to continue her studies at the New York Studio School of Painting, Drawing and Sculpture. She had her first solo show at Andrea Rosen Gallery in New York in 1994 and since she has been exhibiting in several European and American institutions and galleries. She recently had a show at the Museum of Le Confort Moderne in Poitiers,France and later this year is showing collaborative works with Harmony Korine at the Swiss Institute in New York. Last year she was granted the artist residency of the Chinati Foundation(Donald Judd’s art foundation in Marfa,Texas) She was part of the Whitney Biennale in 2008.
