Sue Montoya was born in Los Angeles, California and raised between Tegucigalpa, Honduras and Miami, Florida. She is based in Gainesville, FL. She received a BFA from New World School of the Arts in Visual Arts in 2014. She received her MFA from the University of Florida in May 2018. In 2015, she co-created Feminist Pizza Party with Lauren Monzon. FPP is a radical zine making workshop where people can grab a slice, talk liberty from oppressive systems, make a zine, and add it to our intersectional pie. To date four FPP workshops have been hosted at several cultural institutions: YoungArts Foundation, HistoryMiami, Lowe Art Museum, and ICA Miami. Her photographic practice revolves around architecture, feminism, ecology, and labor (physical and emotional). When she is not taking or making photographs, she is sipping cafecitos at her favorite Hialeah haunts. In August 2018, she began her one-year residency at 4Most gallery in Gainesville, FL.
