Yleana Hurtado (1982) studied Fabric Design at Universidad Iberoamericana with a specialization in Visual Arts and Photography. Following her background as a textile designer, she founded Lima Azul Swimwear in 2003 where she worked as the creative director for ten years. It was not until 2012 that she decided to start her practice as an artist.
The starting point of her work are factories, production and man-made structures, taking into consideration the environmental impact generated in the processes. She explores and examines land, landscapes and geography revolving around them as well.
In 2011 she creates June Joon Jaxx, an online platform featuring content on contemporary art that includes a section of artists interviews.
